DUTIES OF THE COUNTY ASSESSOR'S OFFICE

• Assess all personal, business, residential and farm property in Washington County
• Process all inheritance tax forms for estates in Washington County
• Secretary for the Washington County Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals
• President of the Washington County Land Commission
• Keep updated property record cards for all properties in Washington County
• Sell Buggy License
• Provide Auditor with all values for tax billing
• Provide Auditor with values for Homestead Exemptions
• File and process all non-taxable exemptions for churches, lodges, etc. Filed each even-numbered year
• Process all property transfers and figure values for all buildings and land
• Process all sales disclosures and keep on file

Washington County Property Reassessment Information

 

After January 1, 2010 some counties in Indiana may no longer use the State of Indiana Sales Disclosure Submission Site. Washington County will continue to use the State Sales Disclosure site for entering disclosure information required for transfers of real estate. You may need to re-enter the address for submission as a few changes have been made to improve data entry.

Washington County may soon require all disclosures to be submitted on-line and have a hard copy with signatures submitted at time of transfer.

The Indiana Department of Local Government Finance has an excellent web site with information for on-line submission of sales disclosure forms and my office staff is available to answer questions regarding on-line submission of SDF.

Remember that forms must be completely filled out before they can be accepted.

Use this address for SDF submission. At end of data entry a unique ID number will be assigned. When printed, this ID will be in upper right of form. This form should be signed by buyer & seller and submitted with the deed for transfer.
